Muttukadu boat house

Muttukadu is one of the speacial place in chennai... Its one of the water sport facility located 30km away from the great marina beach... Its a backwater area of Bay of bengal... The muttukadu boat house was innougrated in 1984 and has various types of boats available

The water depth varies between 3 to 6 feet. It is owned and operated by the TTDC [Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation]

Here is where the great Buckingham Canal Estuaries to Bay Of Bengal.... So during the rainy seasons the canal helps Chennai city, evacuating rain water ... The buckingham canal plays as a shield for The Greater Chennai Corporation ie: during the tsunami{2004} it carries 5600 cubic feet water per seconds 

Buckingham Canal:

In 2004, 

The Buckingham Canal acted as a buffer zone and regulated the tsunami waves on the coastal region over nearly 310km from Pedda Ganjam to Chennai. The Canal all along the coastal region was filled with tsunami water. The canal reflowed the tsunami waves or water to the sea which saved the major part of the city.... 

Also in 2015 flood the canal reflowed the flood water to sea... Which saves the Greater Chennai Corporation to be flooded...

Also the width of the canal has been deduced by various organizers like Chennai Sub-Urban Transports,

Chennai Metropolitan Water... etc 

What's Inside :

 During the weekdays.. only few shops were avail... like juices, snacks, even lunches be available

 At the entry you need to pay entry fee almost 10 per person

The only way of transportation is MTC buses:

Bus No : 

109 from broadway , 

109T from Thiruvetriur, 

588 from Thiruvanmiur, 

588b from Besent nagar, 

all the buses are enrouted via ECR like Marina, Santhome, Besant Nagar, Adayar, Thiruvanmiur, Neelankarai, Injambakam, Water Tank{sholinganallur}, Kanathur, Kovalam, Nemmeli, Mamallapuram

Variety of boats avail with fares:

2 seater water scooter - 780rs for 5mins

6, 8 & 10 seater motoe boat - 630, 840 & 960resp for 20mins

3 & 4 seater row boat - 250 & 320 resp for 30mis

The above given fare is without GST

You need to play extra fare like *2 as deposit amount

at your return they will repay your deposit amount

Even Gpay and cards be accepted here
