Kunnandar Kovil
KUNNANDAR KOVIL
Kunnandar Kovil is also knows as the Thirukundrakudi.
Its a Shivan temple as the lord positioned inside the cave like temple. And also at the top of the hill station there is a Lord Murugan Temple is there. Back to these temple there is a pond like water body is available but it mainly used by the local people for their regular purpose. And now its maintained by the "Archaeological Survey of India" as a protected monument
This was constructed in the time period of NADHIVARMA PALLAVA (775 AD) in this existing village especially it was constructed during the 8th century by the MUTTARAIYAR KINGS (cardinals of pallavas) - Vijayanagar Empires
3kms away from the VATHTHANAKOTTAI
Pudukkottai - Thanjur Highway
Most likely Public transport for this place is available from Pudukkottai and Keeranur
(Timing of those buses were not available since its rural village)
Entrance Tower of the Temple
(Since its from AD:775 )
Most probably there will be a festival named CHITHTHIRAI THIRUVIZHA
at 16th of April 2022
The interior view of the mandapa
can't even imagine about these construction in those 8th century
Those art narrates about the late pallava art and early chola's art...!!
(Its one of the Incredible India Tourism places around the Pudukkottai region )
Also i have heard that Rocks used to build the Thanjur Big temple were taken around these regions (I am not damn sure about this)
Since its a rural village you can seriously have a pleasant environment around you
Mostly prefer your own transport
